Slow Down
and See Washington DC...
This privately funded public service website is intended to bring about awareness regarding the dangers of speeding in our nation's capital, by sharing a series of links about:
- DC's Statutes & Regulations related to Speeding
- Anaysis of 2010 Speed Data in DC.
- Speeding Laws, Fines & Saftey Tips
- Traffic Safety Facts
Driving your vehicle at even a few miles over the speed limit increases the chances that you may lose control of the vehicle. Braking distance is reduced, safety belt effectiveness is reduced and risk of civil and criminal liability, injury and fatality is increased. Speeding can cost you $75.00 for just traveling 1 mile over the speed limit or you may find yourself incarcerated if traveling 30 MPH over the posted speed limit.
If you traveled 15 miles across the city at 35 MPH (10 MPH over the speed limit) instead of the posted 25 MPH, you would save only 10 minutes, assuming you never hit a red light and maintained a constant speed of travel. Wouldn't you be better off slowing down and enjoying what the city has to offer around you then getting a ticket at best or possible killing someone else at worst?
